According to Laura Capitano of some second-rate Florida newspaper, Memphis is, and I quote, “Nashville’s dirty, drunken cousin.”
But, then again, what has Nashville given us but watered down, over-produced country(ish) music? Maybe being the dirty, drunken cousin isn’t so bad after all…
If we’re a dirty, drunk cousin, then Florida is grandpa on the beach with black socks. Memphis has Elvis, Justin, Cybil. What does Florida have? Jeb Bush? Mickey Mouse? A housing meltdown? Hurricanes. Should I go on?
