What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been
March Madness always makes me a little nostalgic. Has it really been fifteen years?
Thank you for making me openly weep at work. Still the best moment I have as a Razorback fan that doesn’t have a crushing setback hiding immediately behind it.
I had tickets to the Georgia game when they had the whole team back. I was misty eyed seeing guys like Corliss, Thurman, Beck (on 48 hr furlough from the Department of Corrections), and Nolan make their triumphant return.
I’ll have the radio on listening to the early rounds this morning, but it isn’t the same as listening to Nail announce some time during the day “Live from (fill in the blank first round site furthest geographically from Fayetteville, Arkansas), this is Arkansas Basketball…”
I never got to see those guys play in person, but back during those two magical years, when I was about 16-17 years old, I followed the Hogs religiously. We made time to watch every game that was broadcast on channel 7 and tuned in on the radio for all of the others.
I know he had a lot of baggage and that it was probably best for him to go, but man I miss seeing Nolan walking the sidelines – especially this time of year.
Pass the Kleenex…
