In Memphis, the position of mayor is set to be filled later this year in a special election. So, far there are several colorful characters who have declared their intention to run, but there is one who stands above the others in all of their head-scratching strangeness.
Jerry Lawler. Yes, Jerry “The King” Lawler.

It almost makes me glad to live in the surburbs. Almost…
I used to watch wrestling on Saturday morning from Channel 5 (then NBC) from Memphis when I was a kid in the 70’s. Last time I remember hearing anything about “the king” he was doing something for the short-lived XFL, I believe.
I think he still wrestles with Memphis Wrestling, but I don’t generally keep up with it. According to his Wikipedia page, it looks like he still occasionally shows up on WWE Raw too.

If he won do you think he would declare himself king of Memphis, or would he take the demotion to mayor?
I hope all of this ends in a no-holds-barred cage match for the office. It would actually be more dignified than most elections nowadays.
First Prince Mongo, now this.
