Our nation is beset by a whole host of problems, from wars to a recession to global warming, but, thanks to Senator Sam Brownback and a host of others, we now know what issues deserves the brunt of our attention, the focus of our fears: human-animal hybrids. Today, along with Mary Landrieu (D-LA), he introduced the latest piece of legislation, the Human-Animal Hybrid Prohibition Act of 2009.
According to Brownback, “This legislation works to ensure that our society recognizes the dignity and sacredness of human life. Creating human-animal hybrids, which permanently alter the genetic makeup of an organism, will challenge the very definition of what it means to be human and is a violation of human dignity and a grave injustice.”
But the question must be asked, what does this mean for the werewolves, the mermaids, heck, even bigfoot? Is Arielle no longer welcome in American waters? Does this mean we can’t have an army of minotaurs? Or centaurs? What about Spiderman? The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? The Thundercats?
Do we just banish them all to Canada? Or will we now declare war on the werewolves?
