Roky Erickson has been around the edges of the American music scene for more than 40 years and during that time his life has been a crazy rollercoaster. According to Wikipedia, Erickson was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 1968 and was given involuntary electroconvulsive therapy, then was arrested the following year for drug possession and sent to the Rusk State Hospital for the Criminally Insane where he remained for until 1972. In 1982, he claimed that a martian had inhabited his body and asked a Notary Public to witness an official declaration that he was an alien, hoping it would convince the aliens to leave him alone.
Earlier this year he released his first album in ages, this time teaming with indie band Okkervil River and I have to say the end result is very good. Below is the song Goodbye Sweet Dreams. Enjoy.
