Who Is This Wisdom Guy Anyway?

I’m just a regular old guy in his 30′s journeying through this crazy world and listening to some cool music along the way. I hope you will join me on the trip, because believe me, it’s a trip.

I think the community garden is a wonderful idea!!! You have enough garden expertise, now, to be able to make it produce well! What a delightful surprise it will be to the church building neighbors to have access to it. Great idea!
I’m not so sure the gun idea is so great, though I am assuming you wrote that tongue-in-cheek. WR wouldn’t agree, but I think if you have a gun, you’ll use a gun (maybe). Personally, I think that unless you use a gun frequently and are comfortable carrying one around without stresssing, you probably won’t use it. Then there is the danger of little children getting access to it, accidentally. I vote for an old fashion Irish shelaleah or iron skillet! Love ya, Susan

Don’t worry, the gun entry was my April Fool’s Joke. I’m about as anti-gun as you can be…

Hi Matt. This is Russ Lindsey in Beebe. Someone recently pointed out to me a post or something of yours that said ‘russ lindsey’ & arkansas. I found that very interesting. Is that me, or another russ lindsey? I hope you are doing well. It sounds like you have a wonderful family. I wish you all the best. Please feel free to contact me at ‘daddyruss@hotmail.com’

dude you go to Holmes rd????? i grew up playinh hoops there! and lived very close!

10. Wayne Herring - March 28, 2009

Matt, just a question. Does Holmes Road allow men to set in on ladies Classes? Just curious.

11. Matt - March 28, 2009

I don’t know if we have any Ladies’ Classes right now, but, if there is/were one, the answer would probably be no. Though we are a fairly progressive (by CoC standards at least) church, there remain some issues that need to be addressed.

12. Wayne Herring - March 28, 2009

I appreciate your quick response. I do understand your concern about competition and I do see a father’s distress at not getting to see your daughter share her ability but there are larger issues involved. Those issues involve, not so much what the world feels is the subjugation of women, but the stronger responsibility of the male involvment in spiritual issues. I am not trying to tell anyone what God had on his mind when he limited certain roles but He recalled the fact of how easily Adam was willing to be coached by Eve and then tried to blame the whole situation on the female. He is calling men to step up and take the responsible position as the leader. Just a thought. Enjoy worshiping with your family.

13. Patrick - March 30, 2009

Matt, there is a ladies class over in the east wing.

I think if someone tried to push the issue it would cause division and that would not be good for the church.

14. Diana - April 26, 2009

I definitely think Matt is planning to push the issue and, thereby, harm the church. I mean, we all know how aggressive and forthcoming Matt is . . . sorry Patrick — couldn’t resist.

15. Patrick - April 27, 2009

maybe passive aggressive. not so aggressive in person, but pretty forward on here. This is his little space on the world wide web though, so I suppose he can do/be whatever he wants.

16. Matt - April 27, 2009

…and you could cut the condescension with a knife…

17. Patrick - April 27, 2009

what? who is being condescending?

23. Isaac - November 23, 2010

Hi Matt,

I sent you a twitter @ reply, but I’ll post a note here as well. I’m the communications manager at Walden Theatre in Louisville, Ky. and we’re doing a production of To Kill a Mockingbird in January. I’m designing the poster and I was looking for a photo of the Monroeville courtroom on which the movie based its set, and you have one of the best I’ve seen.

Walden is a theatre education nonprofit working with student actors ages 8-18. They’ll be performing the play as part of our season of shows, and I was curious if you’d grant permission to use your image as the background for a poster. The poster run is 150, and I’ll also use the poster for email press releases and event postings.

If you’re interested, please email me at ispradlin AT waldentheatre DOT org. Seeing your interests and reading through your blog a bit makes me think you’d be open to this slightly unconventional request, and of course we’ll fully attribute the photo and I’ll send you a few posters for your own use. I’d love to hear from you.

Great blog, by the way.

Isaac

Matt, here is praying hard that you do enjoy being Episcopalian because you are obviously a huge accent to the community you have joined. Bless you and your beautiful family.

Thanks for helping us feel so welcome, Sandy!

Don’t know if you still blog or not – just came across this when I did a google search for “alternatives to Lads to Leaders.” All I have to say to that post is “AMEN.”
